The Vishakha archetype of the Midnight Mass

Notes on this Vishakha archetype portrayed by Vishakha native Hamish Linklater. Spoiler alert.

Vishakha native Hamish Linklater in "Midnight Mass"

• Brihaspati, ruler of Jupiter is literally a priest and Jupiter expands by sharing knowledge. Note that knowledge is that thing which multiplies when shared & Jupiter ruled Vishakha grows by splitting. ViSHAKha is the SHOCK that causes to split and grow.  

• That splitting shows Vishakha natives’ tendency to split personalities, the “good” vs the “bad”. Pruitt is a great representation of that Vishakha “split” as he embodies both the desire for enlightenment and the descent into darkness; on the one hand he genuinely wants to do good and guide the people towards Heaven and eternal life through consumption of “Amrita” (both Indra themes) and on the other hand he turns into a blood drinking creature who ends up bringing ruin to the very people he wishes to save. 

• When Vishakha is active, it shows great somaa drinkers (indragni) wanting to drink the amrita or the potion of eternal life. Pruitt literally drinks that “nectar” of immortality in the form of the blood of the angel which not only makes him regain his youth but is also the cause of his resurrection.

• The first time we see Father Pruitt he wears a gold chasuble (gold=Jupiter) which is significant. When Pruitt explains why he wore the gold chasuble on his first appearance at the church, he says because it was in fact a special day.

• “Guru-ruled Viśākha native through actions of intense Shakti become powerful in their control of regenerative forces. They are called to inject vitalizing wave forms into this deathly state. “ (B. Pijan)

• Jupiter is his atmakarak and is in fiery Aries/Krittika. Both Moon 🦂 and Jupiter Atmakaraka are in Mars ruled signs; and we see this evident connection between Jupiter (priest) and Mars (warrior) in his “Good Friday” speech where he (wearing the red chasuble /Mars) refers to the congregation as “God’s army” and likens evangelising to warfare: “So it is a war, and there will be casualties, and we must be soldiers”. He even says when quoting the Rifleman’s Creed “you may think that’s a line from a war movie”.

Overall Hamish Linklater was the perfect choice for the role of Father Pruitt.
